Episode 5: The "Fossil Fuel" Illusion — Why the Earth Never Runs Out of Oil
Welcome back to Bakuro-cho. Today, we are going to audit a massive, global "naming convention" that we all accept without question.
Let's talk about oil. Specifically, let's talk about why we call it "Fossil Fuel."
Since we were children, the authorities and textbooks have taught us a simple story: Oil is made from the compressed remains of ancient dinosaurs and prehistoric plants that died hundreds of millions of years ago. Because it takes eons to form, it is a "finite resource."
But if you look at the data over the past few decades, a strange anomaly emerges.
■ The Ever-Receding "Depletion Date" Do you remember the "Limits to Growth" report or the oil shocks of the 1970s? We were panicked, told by experts that global oil reserves would dry up in 30 to 40 years. Yet, here we are, half a century later. Not only have we not run out, but our estimated global reserves are actually higher today than they were back then.
Even when old, supposedly "depleted" oil wells are abandoned, they sometimes mysteriously refill over time.
If oil is strictly a finite liquid made from a limited pile of dead dinosaurs, the math simply doesn't add up. How can we keep pumping astronomical amounts of crude oil every single day, year after year, and still have more left?
■ The Abiotic Oil Theory: The Taboo Science There is an alternative theory, long discussed by certain Russian and Ukrainian geologists, known as the Abiotic Oil Theory (Abiogenic petroleum origin).
This theory suggests that oil is not a "fossil" at all. Instead, it posits that hydrocarbons are naturally and continuously generated deep within the Earth's mantle under extreme heat and pressure, seeping upward through the crust.
If this theory is even partially true, it means oil is not a finite "fossil fuel," but a renewable, geothermal resource—much like magma or groundwater. It means the Earth is a giant, continuous oil factory.
■ Why the Name "Fossil" Matters: The Illusion of Scarcity Why, then, is the Abiotic Theory treated as heresy by mainstream Western science? Why must oil absolutely be a "Fossil"?
Apply the Bakuro-cho methodology: Look at who profits from the rule.
If oil is a "renewable planetary resource" bubbling up from the mantle, it loses its premium value. But if it is labeled a "Fossil Fuel"—a rare, finite commodity made of dead dinosaurs—then scarcity is artificially established.
Scarcity justifies high prices. Scarcity justifies geopolitical wars. Scarcity gives enormous power to the cartels and governments that control the supply valves. The very term "Fossil Fuel" is a brilliant piece of marketing designed to maintain a monopoly on energy.
■ Do Not Be Fooled by Their Labels Just as MEXT labels imported laborers as "Students," and the Ministry of Health labels forced contributions as "Insurance," the global energy cartel labels deep-earth hydrocarbons as "Fossils."
They name things to control the narrative. They create the illusion of scarcity to control the wealth.
Do not blindly trust the names given by the bureaucrats and the "experts." The moment you accept their labels, you are playing their game.
