Episode 16: The Parasite Protocol — Why the Bureaucratic Legion Kills Its Own Host
Welcome back to Bakuro-cho.
Many people ask me: "If the bureaucrats keep expanding these corrupt systems and inviting free-riders, won't the country eventually go bankrupt? Why would they destroy their own nation?"
To understand this, you must stop looking at bureaucrats as politicians, and start looking at them as Biologists. Specifically, you need to understand The Parasite Protocol.
In Japan, there is a devastating ecological phenomenon called "Pine Wilt Disease." It destroys massive, ancient pine trees from the inside out in a matter of months. The mechanism of this disease is the perfect metaphor for how the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHLW) operates.
■ The Anatomy of the Parasite There are three players in this biological tragedy:
The Host Tree (The Taxpayer & The State): Once strong and full of life, holding the vast nutrients (taxes and pension funds) of the nation.
The Longhorn Beetle (The Bureaucratic Legion): The beetle lands on the tree. But the beetle doesn't eat the whole tree. Its only goal is to bore a safe hole into the bark to lay its eggs and build a nest. In our government, this "nest" is the Amakudari (Retirement Sanctuaries)—the dummy corporations and foundations where bureaucrats secure their high-paying post-retirement jobs.
The Nematode Worms (The Free-Riders & Dummy Corporations): Here is the trick. When the beetle bores into the tree, it carries microscopic parasites (Nematodes) with it. The beetle introduces these parasites into the tree's veins. In our system, these are the foreign free-riders and the unnecessary administrative sub-contractors.
■ Death from the Inside What do the Nematodes do? They multiply rapidly and block the tree's water-conducting vessels. The tree’s financial arteries are clogged by the sheer volume of free-riders consuming the resources. The host tree cannot pump nutrients to its own branches (the Japanese citizens). Outwardly, the tree still stands tall. But inside, it is already dead.
■ The Logic of the Parasite So, back to the original question: Why kill the host?
Because a parasite lacks long-term vision. The Bureaucratic Beetle is programmed with only one objective: Maximize resources for its own generation and secure its nest. They do not care if the host tree (the National Treasury) withers and dies in 20 years. By the time the social security system collapses, the current Generals of the Legion will have already retired, taken their gold, and flown away to a new tree (a new tax hike, or a new government scheme). To them, the death of the host is simply a natural byproduct of their own successful reproduction.
■ A Question to My International Readers Look at your own country’s infrastructure. Is your government truly trying to heal the economy? Or are the bureaucrats just boring holes to build their own nests, introducing parasites that block the financial arteries of your nation?
Are you a citizen, or are you just a host for the Bureaucratic Beetle?
